Corporate siteLeading global elevator and escalator company, KONE, has today announced the final completion of all vertical transportation solutions at the landmark Allianz Stadium redevelopment, funded by the NSW Government, in partnership with John Holland and Cox Architecture.
The new state-of-the-art Stadium is due to officially open on 28 August 2022 this year, and with its total capacity reaching 42,500 people, KONE is proud to deliver their latest elevator and escalator innovations to target the many logistical challenges attached to enabling smooth, safe and efficient people flow at a stadium of this size.

The impressive redevelopment has seen KONE deliver a total of 23 units, including:
- 11 premium KONE TranSys and MonoSpace elevators; and
- 12 large-scale KONE TravelMaster 120 Escalators serving the east and west sides of the stadium.
Among these units, four 22 metre escalator units were wholly assembled and tower craned into the site by John Holland during construction – a milestone achievement for this project.
KONE was also tasked with facilitating the safe and efficient flow of materials and workers throughout the construction process, successfully introducing 7 builders lifts for John Holland to enable maximum productivity throughout the build and ensuring worker safety remained the top priority.

KONE’s TranSys Elevators redefine what freight and passenger elevators can be, providing advanced durability and reliability, while the KONE MonoSpace is a machine room-less elevator, optimising space and efficiency at the SFS.

With the stadium set to officially open in time to host the 2022 NRL Grand Final Series, the new Stadium includes state of the art technology to improve the fan experience, with improved sightlines and facilities designed to service future and current needs, ensuring that NSW remains the number one choice for sporting and entertainment events.

Upon completion, the Stadium will be the home ground to the Sydney Roosters, NSW Warratahs and Sydney FC, rewarding match-day and event patrons with a more engaging experience and attracting year-round patronage of what will become a remarkable public place.
