KONE announces completion of people flow solutions at the landmark Sydney Football Stadium redevelopment.

Leading global elevator and escalator company, KONE, has today announced the final completion of all vertical transportation solutions at the landmark Allianz Stadium redevelopment, funded by the NSW Government, in partnership with John Holland and Cox Architecture.

The new state-of-the-art Stadium is due to officially open on 28 August 2022 this year, and with its total capacity reaching 42,500 people, KONE is proud to deliver their latest elevator and escalator innovations to target the many logistical challenges attached to enabling smooth, safe and efficient people flow at a stadium of this size.

Managing Director of KONE Australia and NZ, Jerome Audais, says KONE has been incredibly proud to be chosen as the vertical transportation partner on this iconic project.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone for Sydney’s sporting and entertainment profile.

“It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with John Holland and Cox Architecture to bring our city this world class sporting venue, with leading edge facilities to ensure it is purpose-designed, future ready, and rivals all major stadiums globally.”

The impressive redevelopment has seen KONE deliver a total of 23 units, including:

-       11 premium KONE TranSys and MonoSpace elevators; and

-       12 large-scale KONE TravelMaster 120 Escalators serving the east and west sides of the stadium.

Among these units, four 22 metre escalator units were wholly assembled and tower craned into the site by John Holland during construction – a milestone achievement for this project.

KONE was also tasked with facilitating the safe and efficient flow of materials and workers throughout the construction process, successfully introducing 7 builders lifts for John Holland to enable maximum productivity throughout the build and ensuring worker safety remained the top priority.

Ibrahim Dana, Delivery Operations Manager at KONE says, “Managing the movement of 42,500 people throughout a stadium of this stature is no easy task.

“Our teams worked closely with John Holland and Cox Architecture to stage and strategise the construction process with reliable people flow and overcome the many logistical challenges presented by a project of this scale, to ultimately deliver a stadium of world-class standard. The new Stadium is a testament to the collaboration and experience within this partnership.”

KONE’s TranSys Elevators redefine what freight and passenger elevators can be, providing advanced durability and reliability, while the KONE MonoSpace is a machine room-less elevator, optimising space and efficiency at the SFS.
